Optional Activities
These activities vary according to the interests of the group and the special skills of the staff. Whenever possible, we draw on our environment for resources. Children learn to make splints from Black Ash trees for traditional Adirondack-style packbaskets, to harvest spruce roots for stitching birch bark canoes and baskets, to carve false face masks from poplar trees, and to create fire by friction from the cherry, maple, and cedar on camp property.
